Have you ever listened to a heartbeat?  When holding a baby you can clearly feel their heart beating and the delicate flutter of a heartbeat can be heard even in the womb. In the Gospel of John, during the Last Supper, we read that John leaned up against Christ and listened to his heartbeat. What a privilege to listen to the heartbeat of God at the center of life—the beating heart of Jesus! In doing so John listened to the rhythm of life which is the rhythm of love.

Today we are reminded that “while no one has ever seen God” we can feel God’s heartbeat in loving our fellow brothers and sisters. It is this love that will bring us to perfection. Is there someone in your life today who needs to hear the heartbeat of God? How can you echo God’s beating heart today to this person?
