As the Easter season moves forward, we come to understand the specifics of Jesus’ path to a more robust personal and spiritual life. The various passages from Acts we read these weeks give us insight into the practical ways the early church community came to understand and live out the way of life Jesus offers.

At the close of this third week of Easter readings, any of us might worry whether we can “drink the cup that Jesus drank.” Here is precisely where today’s verses from Psalm 116 come in handy. Pray over them slowly. Let them sink into your heart. Bless the Lord for all the “good God has done for me.” Beg grace to strengthen the Easter commitments you have made. In your own heartfelt words, “call upon the name of the Lord.”
