Today’s gospel reading from Mark gives us a humbling message about entering the Kingdom of God. The passage ends with a call to discipleship: “Keep salt in yourselves and you will have peace with one another.”
Salt in food makes a flavor deeper, richer, more remarkable. We need to identify what in our own lives we can “salt” or inspire to build the reign of God here on earth. We all have gifts that can be enriched, developed and shared with our sisters and brothers around us. So, in these days following the Easter season, let us say a prayer to reflect on what, in your life may be your role in resurrecting Christ’s message of peace here on earth.
