“God is on my side”!
I heard this phrase from one of my all-time favorite students at a retreat many years ago. This young man is now one of the finest teachers and leaders of our high school. And he continues to say and live this motto- “God is on my side”. What if we were more mindful that God is always on our side and that we are always steadfast in his love? Wouldn’t that help us counter the “legions” of voices, shadow experiences, or negative events in the world that keep us from experiencing and living God’s love of ourselves and with one another?
I pray that I might be more mindful that God is always on my side and that I am always beloved by God. Even when it feels at times that I am very far away or have turned my back from him, Jesus will come all the way “to the other side” and step off to meet me where I am. These encounters will free me to love ever more deeply.
