All you who fear the Lord, trust him, and you will certainly be rewarded.

(Sirach 2:8)

An advertisement for a Greek airline recalls that, after defeating the Trojans, it took Ulysses ten years to return home to Greece. This is because his journey took him across beautiful blue seas dotted with 2,000 sun-splashed islands, 30,000 white-sand beaches, and a never-ending summer. The ad ends by telling us that all this beauty is the reward of those who choose to fly to Greece. The Bible tells us that an infinitely greater beauty will be the reward of those who choose to trust in God.

If someone asked me why I have chosen to trust God, what would I say?

I know not where His islands lift their fronded palms in air;

I only know I cannot drift beyond his love and care.  –John Greenleaf Whittier
